I have created a graph of all incomes on the site and compared it to the biggest expense. Software licenses and hardware costs are not counted for, only the actual costs for the Internet access. As you can see I’m loosing money in an unpleasant rate at the moment (week 4 isn’t complete at the moment). I have no problem to admit that the rate of sales has something to do with the products that are being sold. Also the click rate on the ads are linked to what kind of ads that actually are displayed. -And with only 30-50 clicks out of about 80,000 daily impressions…
If I took the money I spent on this site I think I could buy my self a new gun every second or third month or so. Please please, give me some encouragement to continue. Some good ideas for bringing the budget in balance are also much welcomed.

How about doing as these guys do http://nordisk.echoechoplus.com/ Any member supporting the site will get a special marking 'Supporting NVF'...it's a matter of honour for these guys.

Well, I for one would sure like to see a solution. I haven't been on the site a lot lately for personal reasons, but it is still by far my favorite place on the internet. If the finacial situation does not remedy itself, and the site just barely 'breaks even'....Morten, I guess you will just have to ask yourself what you wanted from the beginning...whether this was intended as a 'money maker', or if it is something that you do because you enjoy sharing this with others in the world. If the responsibilities have become too much of a burden, for what you are doing in your life....possibly Reloadersnest could be put up for SALE. I would not be at all surprised if one of our current members would not be willing to consider taking over the site. Possibly someone that is finacially secure and would like to own the site as a hobby and continue to offer such a wonderful reloading resource. I sure hope there is a light at the end of this somehow, rather than just scrapping this website.
Make it count. www.graybeardoutdoors.com

I really like this forum, I joined Shotgunworld forum it was free to join but for $20 you become a bonus member. It would then say bonus member under your name and you were entitled to special prices on stuff from certain vendors, you also recieved a patch or a towel that said Shotgunworld on it. You can renew your bonus member status every year.Could something like that work here? I'll post the link so you can see what they do over there. http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/index.php |

Thanks all for your concerns and suggestions. Yesterday I had a long and “productive” chat on the phone with Lars. I think I will try, as Lars, Ed and several of you suggested, introducing some “premium membership”. I think the fee for this membership should be kept rather low. My intention isn’t and has never been that the Nest should become a goldmine, but it would of course be desirable that it doesn’t cost me to much either… Some suggestions for premium content could be free downloadable reloading manuals (costs 4.99 today), exclusively access to load details, discount on the webshop, some closed forums etc.
And about the fee... I need to beat my calculator first, but if every one out of one thousand are willing to pay USD 1-1,5 a month, I think we should be on the safe side.
I really appreciate your thoughts and ideas, either as a PM, email or forum discussion. I’ll try to work a little more on this tonight and will share more with you then.
Thanks again! Morten |

Got it! Thanks for joining in. I think everyone here is pointing in the same direction: a simple, easy and affordable premium membership.

| The guys over at Rimfirecentral.com do the premium member thing also. it works but you should ensure that the premium gets the buyer more than just the forum. Premium members should be the ones that have rights to upload photos to your server and the likes. Though many folks like myself host their own pics that are linked in my post most don't, they need someplace to put the file and help getting into the post. The reloading books are a good idea but you should think about expanding them to the WSM and more ultra mags. Many reloaders are trying new stuff versus the old tried and true calibers. Make sure Paypal is a way to pay. |

Thanks for the input Beanfield. I think adding the photoalbum is a good idea.
RUMs and WSMs (WSSM) are defiantly on my to-do list. The number of user submitted loads are the only thing (ok, available time also then…) that are holding me back.

I certainly hope you are able to keep this site up and running. I opperate a red deer hunt preserve in Maine and would like to know what it would cost me to display one of these banner ads:

Please let me know as soon as possible.
