I have some HS-7 but since it is discontinued I would like
to study it in some load manuals as compared to HS-6 which
it is very close to in burn rate. This way I can get
an idea in recent load manuals how much HS-7 to use.

I will be loading for 10mm auto pistol.

Can anyone recommend any online source of old enough manuals
that might still contain the HS-7 load data ?

Preventet47, welcome to the "Nest"

HS-7 is slightly slower burning than HS-6. If you use HS-6 data you will be on the Safe Side but your velocity will a little bit slower, maybe 100 fps or so. Also HS-7 is the same as the old Win 571 as is HS-6 the same as Win 540.

I have a Sierra 3rd Edition with HS-7 at 13.1 grains with 150 gr JHP for 1,250 fps out of a 5" barrel vs 10.8 gr of HS-6 for the same velocity.

180 gr JHP HS-7 at 10.6 gr and HS-6 at 8.6 gr for 1,050 fps.

190 gr FPJ HS-7 10.2 gr for 1,000 fps.

All at 1.25" OAL, Norma cases with CCI-300 primers.

Reduce 10% for starters,

Good loading and shootin,

I found some data for both powders and you maybe have this but if not maybe you can sort thru it and compare or whatever. I dont know what or even if some is old or new data. As to th site with old manuals I have no idea but someone esle maybe will.

Some great data Matt.
Look at this anomolly below of the 135 gr loads vs the 150gr load
and compare the powder quantities. Those powder charges seem
backwards or something.
Thanks
Scott
PS I know HS-7 is slower than HS-6 but when comparing quantities
for same velocities, it appears that the HS-7n is a lot less dense
also by looking at the huge difference in powder weights.

Warning! Notes: firearm used: Colt Delta Elite; barrel length: 5";

I see that the HS-7 is best for very heavy bullets in the
10mm and I dont plan to shoot the heavy bullets but I plan
to shoot the lightest bullets 135 gr at max charges. That way
I can keep the power but reduce the recoil at the same time.

What caliber would the HS-7 powder be best suited for with
lighter weight bullets? Might try to sell it to someone what
owns such a weapon.
Thanks

Preventec 47

Maybe 9mm or 40 S & W. HS-7 makes good Heavy and Magnum loads in Shotgun loads!!!. Same as Win 571 powder just a different wraper.

Sincerely,
