Bullet review

I have tried Speer SP spitzers in 4 rifles ranging from 22 Hornet to 7x57 Mauser, and I cannot get a decently accurate load in any of them, except one with the 50 gr. .224 in a 223 Rem with one powder. I gave up on Speer altogether.

I have been using the Speer hotcore bullet in 250gr. in my 35 Whelen, and I have found it to be very accurate. It averages just under an inch at 100 yds. Velocities with my loads in RL15 are around 2650, and with the bc this bullet has, that makes its trajectory just about match most 30-06 loads. But with about 1000fp/sqin more impact and a noticably larger entrance and exit wound. It is very very effective.

This is the most accurate load I get out of my Rem 721-300 H&H [165 gr./WW Case/70.5 gr H4831] 5 round group was .75 @ 100 yards. Used the above setup on a muley 50 yds off the Oregon side of the OR/NV state line. Missed first shot setting shot, using military loop sling on bicep at[300+ yds], but connect the second shot. I heard it hit and forked horn went down. Cross-wind was blowing about 10 mph. and it hit in gut. What a mess? Bullet too! That 165 Speer blow completely apart. Went to 165 gr. Grand Slams. The GS 5 shot group is out to just less than 1" MOA and it is deadly. Have tried the new H4831 SC, but just doesn't have the same accracy. Haven't been able to get either SP or GS under 1". Hey! Maybe it's Gun, can't be me! Could it?

I use 250gr Speers in my 35 Whelen. They are very accurate and a great performer on moose. Also, they have been accurate in every 35cal I have tried them in.

I hav used the 250gr. .358 bullets in my 25 whelan for years. great accuracy and very good penetration on moose and elk. bullet weight retention is also very good.

I shot a pronghorn antelope with my .256 newton and 120gr. speer spitzer at aprox. 2950 fps. The bullet seemed to explode barely penetrating the first lung and creating an entrance hole you could literally put your fist in. the second shot in the neck also created a fist sized hole. I pulled the rest of these bullets and discarded them
